17th Avenue Bridge to Undergo Repairs, Parking in Area Curtailed

The stretch of 17th Avenue near 55th and 56th streets is a bridge over the LIRR Railroad, and trains can periodically be seen barreling over the tracks down below. 

There are a number of other areas where the same line can be spotted, and the streets above are likewise a bridge over the tracks. 

Beginning this coming Monday, repairs will commence on the 17th Avenue bridge, mainly over the center of the roadway. 

The sides of the avenue will be reserved for traffic, and all those parking spots will be temporarily eliminated. The DOT estimates that this will eliminate about 36 parking spots, between 54th and 57th streets.
