7 Perps Arrested in 36 hours, says BP Shomrim

7 perpetrators were arrested in Boro Park in the past 36 hours, said Boro Park Shomrim.

One man was arrested for stealing a bicycle, another perp for breaking into a car, and several others for similar crimes.

“Bike, car, and package thefts make up most Boro Park crimes,” Shomrim Coordinator Motty Brauner said.

These thefts are not slowing down and here’s how you can help prevent them.  

“Hundreds of vehicles are still being left unlocked overnight,” Brauner shared.

By taking just one second out of your busy day to LOCK your vehicle so much heartache can be prevented.

Brauner also pointed out that expensive items should not be left in a car overnight, especially if it is visible from the outside.

“It takes just 15-20 seconds to cut the chain of a bike,” he went on to say. “Expensive bikes should be kept indoors, or in a backyard or shed. A chain is not always the solution.” 

Regarding packages, Shomrim suggests having a neighbor accept your packages when the need arises instead of leaving them out.
