Another Snatching Incident in Boro Park Involves Knife

By BoroPark24 Staff

Another snatching incident occurred in Boro Park, this time involving a knife, but thankfully, it ended without any injuries.

The incident happened when a heimishe Boro Park woman was returning from work at the New Utrecht Avenue and 55th Street subway station. A suspect approached her from behind, used a knife to cut her pocketbook off her shoulder, and fled the scene.

Shmira members responded quickly, first calming the woman and calling Hatzalah to check on her and ensure she was okay. Meanwhile, other members swiftly reviewed surveillance footage to trace the suspect's path. Shortly after, they saw that the suspect had dropped the pocketbook under a tree while running, possibly fearing it was being tracked. When Shmira recovered the bag, they found her ID and credit cards, but the $1,000 in cash was missing — the thief took only what couldn't be traced.

The NYPD, with the assistance of Shmira, are continuing to investigate the incident in an effort to track down the thief.
