YS GOLD
The Boro Park community lost a tremendous gaon and talmid chochom with the passing of Rav Elozor Yonah Ginsberg, zt"l, the Rov of Congregation Agudas Achim. He was approximately 70 years of age, and was unwell in recent years.
The niftar was the son of Rav Tzvi Meir Ginsberg, the leader of Agudas Harabanim of America and Canada, and the grandson of Rav Chaim Shlomo Lowy, the Chuster-Tosher Rebbe to whom he was greatly beloved, and he would repeat much of his Torah. Through his zeide, he was descended from the tzaddikim of Tosh, Chust, Nadvorna, Premishlan, and others.
Rav Ginsberg was a tremendous talmid chochom, a master of the revealed and hidden Torah, and a great marbitz Torah to thousands with deep sweetness and clarity. He was especially known for his mastery of the sifrei Arizal.
More than one thousands shiurim from Rav Ginsberg remain recorded and available to inspire generations to come, as well as beautiful sefarim that he left behind.
For many years, he served as the rov of Congregation Agudas Achim on Fort Hamilton Parkway, and served as the rosh kollel of the Pupa Kollel, shaping and molding yungeleit into talmidei chachomim.
He impacted thousands of lives with his Torah brilliance.
During the last years of his life, he was unwell and resided in Lakewood near his children until his passing on Monday. He leaves behind a beautiful family, as well as one brother, the Chuster Rebbe, and a sister, the Skolya Rebbetzin.
The levaya will take place at Beis Medrash Toldos Yitzchok in Lakewood at 10:00 this morning, and he will be brought to kevurah at the Kossoner Beis Hachaim in Deans, New Jersey.
Yehi zichro baruch.
