We are saddened to report on the passing of Mrs. Esther Lenchevsky, a longtime educator in Beis Yaakov of Boro Park. She passed away Wednesday in her nineties.
She was the Rebbetzin of Rav Yosef Lenchevsky, a brother in law of Rav Avrohom Kalmanowitz and Rav Dovid Kviat, zt”l, of the Mirer yeshiva.
He himself was a talmid of Baranovich and Radin, and a massive talmid Cochim who delivered thousands of shiurim, and delivered mussar droshos around Boro Park.
But her greatness was ingrained in her from the time of her birth into the home of the legendary R’ Moshe Yehuda Hakohen Lieberman of Williamsburg. It was a home permeated with tzeddakah and chessed, and came from an illustrious yichus.
The family arrived in America in the 1930’s, and stood stalwart against the winds of assimilation.
She was an incredible mechaneches for decades in the Beis Yaakov of Boro Park, going to every length to assist her students above and beyond the call of duty.
She merited that many of her descendants remained in chinuch, and was the pillar of her family—taking care of her husband and her parents until the last moments of her life.
She’s mourned by an illustrious family and thousands upon thousands of Talmidos who’ll remember her forever.
