BDE: Mrs. Miriam Shor, a”h.
We are saddened to inform you of the passing of Mrs. Miriam Shor, a native of Yerushalayim who resided in Boro Park for many years. She was 82.
She was the daughter of Reb Dovid Schechter, a prominent Breslover chossid from Meah She’orim, and the father of Rav Yaakov Meir Schechter, shlit”a. Thus, she grew up in this environment of the chassidim in old Yerushalayim, where she absorbed an appreciation for deep, heartfelt tefillah, which would become the hallmark of her life.
She married Reb Shmuel Yaakov Shor who came from generations of Karliner Chassidim in Yerushalayim. In 1982, they came to America where Reb Shmuel Yaakov worked as a shochet in Empire Poultry for years. He was niftar in 2000, and she returned to her native Yerushalayim a few years later.
She is remembered for her tefillah, and her overflowing chessed. She would take in anyone and everyone... those who others wouldn’t give a second glance.
She was nifteres on Thursday in Yerushalayim and was interred on Har Hamenuchos.
She leaves behind beautiful generations, including her son, Reb Yochanan Shor in Boro Park, who serves as a longtime Rebbi in the Skverer Talmud Torah in Boro Park, and a popular maggid for children.
