BDE: R’ Moshe Lemmer, z”l
By Y. S. Gold
We regret to inform you of the passing of Reb Moshe Lemmer, z”l, a lifelong Boro Park resident. He was 68 years of age.
The niftar was born in Boro Park to his father Reb Naftoli Menachem (Mendel), who implanted in him Torah and yiras Shomayim. He learned in the Mosdos HaTorah in Boro Park of his youth.
Following his wedding, he became close to the Belzer chassidus and he would remain a lifelong chossid of the Belzer Rebbe shlit”a.
In Boro Park, he would daven in Belz, as well as in the Zidichoiver shul, where he was known for his generosity.
In later years, Reb Moshe moved to Toms River. Here too, he was known for his tzeddaka and chessed.
Shalom Lemmer, the renowned singer, once shared a heartfelt story about his parents, both of whom were orphans from a young age. As a child, his father's rebbe asked him to sing a song in class. Aware that he wasn’t a great singer, he refused to perform. However, his rebbe insisted, leaving him with no choice. When he finally sang, his classmates began to laugh at his awkward singing, leaving him embarrassed and disheartened. This experience deeply affected him, and he davened with all his heart that his own children would be blessed with the gift of singing, so they wouldn’t have to endure the same pain and embarrassment he had felt. Miraculously, despite having no famous singers in the family, he was blessed with two sons, Shalom and Yanky, who both grew up to become renowned singers and chazanim.
A few years ago , he was stricken with illness, and he suffered terribly. Throughout his ordeal, he always expressed his bitachon in Hashem, accepting everything with love.
He was niftar on Shabbos, the very day of the yohrtzeit of his beloved daughter who perished in a car accident more than 20 years ago.
The levaya will take place at 12:00 at Shomrei Hadas. To watch it live click here.
