YS GOLD
This past Shabbos, Hagaon Rav Benzion Rabinowitz, an ardent Belzer chossid from Yerushalayim, a mekurav to the Belzer Rov, and an admired personality in the chassidus, passed away in Boro Park while here for the wedding of a grandchild. He had been one of the first residents of Kiryas Belz in Yerushalayim.
He was born in Yerushalahim in the summer of 1938, and was married to the daughter of Reb Duvid Ganz, an esteemed Viznitzer chossid.
A special passion of his was the art of dikduk, and the Belzer Rov, who is known to emphasize proper dikduk, would speak with him often about this.
He was a great gaon, and a great eved Hashem who served his Creator with mesirus nefesh. He was also greatly devoted to chessed, and was involved in gathering funds for the Kimcha d’Pischa fund of the Belzer chassidus. He would collect funds tirelessly from Purim until Pesach, ensuring that everyone in the chassidus would have what they need for Yom Tov.
As noted, he felt unwell while here for a grandchild’s wedding, and passed away on Shabbos in Maimonides Hospital.
The levaya took place Motze Shabbos, and the aron was taken to Eretz Yisrael for a Levaye and kevurah.
Yehi zichro baruch.
