We are saddened to inform you of the petirah of Reb Berel Goldman, a talmid chochom, and an ardent Bobover chossid to his core. He was just shy of his 70th birthday.
The niftar was born in Yerushalayim to his father Reb Binyumin Goldman, one of the most prestigious Bobover chassidim, and a mashgiach in the yeshiva in Bat Yam, and a heartfelt ba’al tefillah.
Reb Berel inherited his leanings toward Torah and neginah. He was known as a great talmid chochom with a breathtaking breadth of knowledge in chassidus.
He is remembered by thousands of Bobover chassidim for his unique grammen at the Purim tish of the Bobover Rebbe, zt”l. While many would get up with lighthearted presentations to bring out the joy of the day... Reb Berel was known for his poetic delivery, drawing from the deepest sources, emphasizing the serious aspect of the day, and the ability to effect such great yeshu’os on this day. The pining and the yearning inherent in his grammen resonated deeply with the Rebbe and with the chassidim.
He had been unwell in recent years, and passed away this morning. His petirah takes place on the 12th yohrtzeit of his brother, the legendary composer, Reb Moshe Goldman, z”l. He leaves behind beautiful generations of chassidim and talmidei chachomim.
The levaya will take place at 1:30 this afternoon at the Beis Medrash of Bobov-45, on 49th street Kevurah will be in Washington Cemetery.
