BDE: Reb Yonah Baron, z"l, Longtime Proprietor of Hot Bagels

We regret to inform you of the passing of Reb Yonah Baron, a longtime Boro Park resident, and the longtime proprietor of the legendary hot bagels shop on 13th Avenue. 

The niftar hailed from a long line of Rabbonim and extremely distinguished talmidei chachomim. 

After spending his childhood in Galicia of yore, his father, Rav Avrohom Yehoshua Heshel Baron, went up to Eretz Yisroel prior to the war, and spent the ensuing years basking in the glow of the tzaddikim of yerushalayim. He committed to writing the stories and anecdotes of those exalted Yidden from the Old City of Yerushalayim. 

Following the war, he was drawn close to Rebbe Aaron of Belz, who crowned him as the Kaminka Rebbe. 

The niftar was raised in Eretz Yisroel in the glow of his illustrious father, and later came to America where he married and established a beautiful Torah family. 

As noted, he owned and operated the legendary Hot Bagels establishment for many years. 

Reb Yonah was niftar this morning at the age of 77, leaving behind a legacy of ehrlichkeit and middos tovos.

The levaya will take place 12pm at the Bobover Beis Medrash.
