BDE: Reb Zev Tzvi (Volvy) Fisher, z"l
YS GOLD
We regret to inform you of the passing of Reb Zev Tzvi (Volvy) Fisher, a pillar of the Viener Kehillah in Boro Park. He was seventy years of age.
The niftar was the son of Reb Asher Eliezer Dovid Fisher, a prominent member of the Viener Kehillah, and he was born in the aftermath of the Holocaust, representing the rebirth of Klal Yisroel following the churban. He was a talmid of the Viener Yeshiva and its esteemed and illustrious Roshei Yeshiva.
For many years, he was the proprietor of the Shefa Delicatessen on 13th Avenue, and he also owned a catering hall--but his true passion was learning Torah and serving Hashem. And when he retired, he sat down to learn full time.
One member of the kehillah described him as "a very serious person," and that this is a terrible loss for the Viener Kehillah in which Volvy was deeply involved.
He sadly suffered from an illness in recent months, and was niftar in the early hours of Wednesday morning, leaving behind a bereft family and many friends and admirers.
The levaya will take place at Shomrei Hadas at 11:00 this morning. To watch it live click here.
Yehi zichro baruch.
