We are saddened to inform you of the passing of the Medied Rebbetzin, matriarch of a prominent Torah family. She was 97 years of age.

She was born in the town of Megied in Czekeslovakia to her father, Rav Shimon Satin, who was the rov of the town, who was the fourth generation of rabbonim in the town.

Following the war, she married Rav Pinchas Asher Zelig Goldberger, zt”l—a talmid chochom of note, who assumed the position of Medieder Ruv in the place of his father-in-law. He would author the multi-volume Minchas Asher.

They were fortunate to survive the churban that annihilated so much of Eastern European Jewry, including their family, and transplanted their lives on American soil. They settled in Queens, where the Medied Ruv led a beis medrash in Kew Gardens Hills.

In the summers, they would transplant themselves to Fleischmann’s in upstate New York, and presided over a Shul there. Many people retain the fondest memories of the Ruv and the Rebbetzin spending their summers there.

The nifteres is remembered as an extremely dedicated mother and Rebbetzin who did everything to support her husband in his learning, for the upkeep of the shul, and commemorating her illustrious family’s rabbinic legacy. She was moser nefesh for the chinuch of his children

Among their children were Rav Yonasan Binyamin Goldberger, the Bikovsker Ruv, a son-in-law of the Bobover Ruv, who was a renowned ga’on and mechaber seforim. He was niftar two years ago at the age of 70. Her son, Rav Leibish, Shlit”a, has led the Medied Beis Medrash in Boro Park for close to forty years.

The levaya will take place at the Medied Beis Medrash, 1714 52nd Street, at 6:30 this afternoon.
