BDE: Rebbetzin Chaya Rubin, a”H, Scion of Nadvorna and Chust Dynasties
We are saddened to inform you of the passing of Rebbeyzub Rubin of Boro Park. She was 95 years of age.
The nifteres hailed from the Leifer and Schapiro families—each rooted in the holy Nadvorna dynasty.
She was born in the town of Chust in 1926, and her father, Rav Dovid Leifer, later became the Chuster Rebbe in Grosswardein. Her mother was the former Rivka Schapiro, a daughter of the Kechnia Rebbe.
The war came with ferocity when she was a girl of eighteen. Her entire family, save for one sister (later Kechnia Rebbetzin of Boro Park), and an aunt (later the Kalever Rebbetzin of Yerushalayim).
She was on the verge of giving up numerous times on the death March, but her sister and aunt strengthened her, ultimately to her survival.
Throughout her life, she was known as the most loving and giving person, who displayed deep interest in the lives of everyone she encountered.
She married Rav Meir Rubin, a son of Rebbe Yisochor Berish Rubin, zt”l, of Dombrowa-Berlin- Washington Heights.
The couple settler in Boro Park, where they raised a beautiful Torahdige, chassidishe family who are a credit to her illustrious ancestors.
For many years, the Rubins were active in the antiques business, acquiring and selling precious Hebrew and Judaica artifacts, which are eternally treasured by their owners.
With her passing, we have lost yet one more precious link to the glorious world of Torah and chassidus of yore.
The Levaya will take place at 11:00 at Shomrei Hadas, with Kevurah in the histadrus ha’admorim section on Wellwood Cemetery.
