In what appears to be another incident of scammers targeting an elderly couple, a suspect successfully stole a few thousand dollars this past week from an unsuspecting couple.
The initial phone call warned the elderly residents that their ‘son’ was arrested and they need to immediately pay a large sum of money for bail so he can be released.
The couple, not suspicious of anything, greeted the suspect and handed over a few thousand dollars in cash, according to Shomrim, who helped the elderly couple file a police report.
The NYPD is investigating the incident, and warn everyone never to transfer money to any unknown personal, as the scammers are out there and try their luck every day, specifically targeting seniors.
