Bobov Announces New Wedding Plan
By Idy Perl
Last night Bobov held a meeting to discuss a new wedding plan to help Bobov chassidim marry off their children without going into debt.
The new plan was established at the Rebbe’s request along with the opening of the new Bobov wedding hall, Oholei Frieda. The Rebbe appointed his oldest sonHarav Chaim Shulem shlita to put together a takanos vaad to come up with the new protocols, which was announced last night.
The plan will drastically cut wedding expenses by abolishing the tenoyim, Shabbos aufruf seuda, and other expenses. In addition, the new wedding hall will be available to those participating with the takanos for only $16,000. This price already includes musicians, singers, flowers, food, pictures, and all other expenses. This means the wedding night will cost only $8,000 per side.
Another huge game changer is that those who stick to the plan will be eligible to receive a $40,000 gemach loan, which can be paid back in just $300/month payments. This will make it more feasible to pay back over a period of time. Additionally, mechutanim in need receive from the existing funds in the Kehila a $10-15,000 dollar donation to go towards wedding expenses.
The new plan was received with great appreciation by the kehilla, as they will now be able to walk their children to the chuppah with true simchah and peace of mind.
