BREAKING: Governor Hochul Phones Satmar Rebbe to Thank Him for Support

Breaking this evening is the news that Governor Kathy Hochul called the Satmar Rebbe Shlit”a, Reb Aaron Teitelbaum, thanking him profusely for his endorsement, and for encouraging his chassidim to vote for her in the recent election. 

The election was a close race between the Governor and Congressman Lee Zeldin, a Republican who came shockingly close to taking the governorship. 

While the majority or orthodox communities supported Zeldin who promised to support the yeshivos in educating their students as they see fit, the Satmar Rebbe and the Skverer Rebbe were notable exceptions. Their flocks of thousands of Chassidim supported Hochul in this race. 

According to the report, the governor pledged to do everything to help the community. “God knows we will always work together when you need it,” she said.
