Brooklyn Bridge Repairs Progressing
Mindy Cohn
After four years of an extensive exterior and interior maintenance project, the Brooklyn Bridge - an iconic symbol of New York has about one year left of work.
The three hundred million dollar project is presently focused on the Manhattan side of the one hundred and forty-year-old bridge, which opened on May 24, 1883.
The bridge sees millions of visitors annually - as tourists flood to the bridge for photo shoots and to cross the visit off their bucket lists of New York City tourist attraction experiences.
Maintenance includes deep cleaning, new brickwork, and repairs inside the bridge’s base support structures, where there are rooms and storage space.
