Call to Action: Traffic Light Needed at 21st Ave & 61st St Intersection

In recent months, BoroPark24 has reported numerous accidents—ranging from minor to serious—at the intersection of 61st Street and 21st Avenue.

Despite the presence of a stop sign, it is often disregarded, leading to multiple individuals requiring hospital care and putting both pedestrians and drivers at risk. Additionally, significant vehicle damage has occurred.

In the attached video, provided to BoroPark24 by local residents, multiple accidents at this intersection are documented, all happening within just a few days. It’s clear that immediate attention is needed to prevent further incidents.

BoroPark24 urges local politicians and the Department of Transportation to address this issue by installing a traffic light at this hazardous intersection, similar to measures taken at 16th Avenue and 63rd Street, 19th Avenue and 53rd Street, and 18th Avenue and 54th Street in response to community needs.

A new traffic light at 61st Street and 21st Avenue means a safer neighborhood for all.
