City Comptroller Brad Lander Announces Mayoral Run

New York City Comptroller Brad Lander has become the first person to officially announce his bid against Mayor Adams in next year's election.
Lander, a progressive from Brooklyn, announced his mayoral bid on social media this morning. He called for a more effective local government and criticized the Adams administration as not accomplishing enough for the city.
Lander promises to solve the housing crisis, homelessness, and focus on public safety.
“Why does a city that means so much to so many have leadership that delivers so little for so few?” Lander said. “Nothing can replace New York City, but we can replace a leader when they fail the basic tests of the job.”
