Commemoration for R’ Meir Reich, z”l, Pillar of Sanzer Kehillah in Boro Park

As the shloshim approaches for Reb Meir Reich, z”l, a pillar of the Sanzer kehillah in Boro Park, friends and fellow chassidim will gather to remember him. He was 65 years of age, and was a major askan in the Sanzer kehillah in America, and in Boro Park specifically. 

Reb Meir was born in the year 1956 to his father Reb Shmuel Refoel Reich, and he was imbued from a young age with a feeling for others. His father was exceptionally close to the Shefah Chaim of Sanz-Klausenberg, and Reb Meir would retain a tremendous closeness to the Rebbe and, ybl”ch, his son, the Sanzer Rebbe of Eretz Yisroel. 

When he was a young child, the Klausenberger Rebbe made the move to Eretz Yisroel, and the Reich family moved along with him. Reb Meir’s upbringing was in Kiryat Sanz, in the glow of his holy Rebbe, the Klausenberger Rov. 

He married the daughter of Reb Yudel Brisk, a venerated Klausenberger chossid who had been with the Rebbe from his time in the D.P. Camps, and together, they built an upstanding Torah home. 

He was instrumental in establishing the Sanzer Beis Medrash in Boro Park, and once it was opened, he served as the gabbai, doing his avodas hakodesh with exceptional care and devotion, with a caring heart for all. 

In the last year of his life, he was stricken with a terrible illness which brought him much pain, but he did not let this deter him from his work on behalf of the chassidus for which he cared so much. He was nifrar on the 9th of Adar I, and brough to Eretz Yisroel for kevurah. 

A shloshim commemoration will take place this evening at the Sanzer Beis Medrash, and it will be addressed by the Sanzer rov of America.
