Culinary Corner: Hot Oatmeal with Pears & Chocolate Chips
One of my favorite cozy Breakfasts of the season. This bowl combines pears, cinnamon & chocolate that melt from the warm oatmeal. It’s like starting your day with a warm hug!
HOT OATMEAL with PEARS & CHOCOLATE CHIPS

3 cups water
1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
Dash of salt (optional)
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 Pear, diced
Good Quality Semi-Sweet Mini Chocolate Chips (I like the Vegan chips from California Gourmet)
In a small saucepan over medium heat, bring the water to a boil. Add the oats and salt; Cook and stir for 5 minutes.
Remove from the heat; stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon and vanilla. Cover the pot & let stand for 2 minutes. Divide into plates and top each serving with fresh pears, chocolate chips and slivered almonds, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Enjoy immediately.
