Culinary Corner: Yellow Rice
Rice is a classic side dish. I like to spice it up by using well… spices! This yellow rice is perfectly flavored and the texture is amazing.
1 cup basmati rice
2 cups water
1 tablespoon oil
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon onion soup mix
1 cube frozen sautéd onions
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
Wash the rice under cold water until the water runs clear and is no longer cloudy.
Bring the liquids and spices to a boil and then add in the washed rice. Allow the water to reach a low simmer and cover well. Keep the heat to medium low and simmer for eighteen minutes. Turn off the flame and keep the lid on for an additional five minutes. Fluff the rice using a fork.
