Driver Alert: Dense Fog Advisory Issued Overnight for Tri-State Area
By Y.M. Lowy
The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory from 10 p.m. tonight until 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Fog is expected to move in overnight and continue into the morning commute. In some areas visibility could drop to a quarter mile or less. That means it may be hard to see cars, traffic lights, or even the road ahead. Conditions can change quickly, especially on highways, bridges, and near water.
If you need to drive, slow down and give yourself extra time. Use low-beam headlights, since high beams can reflect off the fog and make it harder to see. Leave more space between you and the car in front of you.
Pedestrians and cyclists should also be careful and stay visible, especially near intersections.
Before heading out, it’s a good idea to check traffic updates and road conditions.
