A man was arraigned over the weekend after prosecutors say he was intoxicated when his vehicle struck a 13-year-old boy in Boro Park on Friday morning, leaving the teen critically injured.

The crash happened near 15th Avenue and 38th Street during the morning hours as children were heading to school. Authorities say the boy was hit by a Nissan Versa and was thrown into the roadway during the impact.

Emergency responders rushed the teen to Maimonides Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

The driver, identified as 55-year-old Jamie Aguilar Sanchez, was taken into custody following the collision. Prosecutors charged him with vehicular assault along with driving while under the influence.

The case is now moving through Brooklyn Criminal Court as the investigation continues.
