As the summer winds down, BoroPark24 is looking back at all the parks near the neighborhood that we’ve explored over the past weeks. In this final feature of our Exploring Boro ‘Parks’ series, we’ve put together a handy guide to the green spaces that offer fresh air just a short ride from Boro Park.
Also called 18th Avenue Park, Gravesend Park has playgrounds for all ages, sports courts, and a popular spray fountain in the summer. It’s a great spot for kids to play and families to relax on shaded benches.
Stretching along the waterfront to the Verrazzano Bridge, it offers playgrounds, sports courts, and a long promenade for walking, jogging, or biking.
This park near the 71st Street D train station has modern playgrounds, spray fountains, sports courts, and fitness equipment for all ages.
Built on one of Brooklyn’s highest points, Sunset Park offers skyline views, a historic pool, playgrounds, and open lawns. Families and photographers alike flock here to enjoy its lively and scenic spaces.
Designed by the creators of Central Park, it spans over 585 acres with fields, wooded trails, a lake with pedal boats, playgrounds, and peaceful picnic spots in the Long Meadow and Ravine.
A newer waterfront addition in Sunset Park, Bush Terminal Park features walking trails, harbor views, turf ballfields, and open spaces for kids to play.
Under the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge, it includes one of the oldest public golf courses in the country, sports fields, courts, spray fountains, and playgrounds. Recent renovations keep it lively and well-maintained.
Once a private estate, it now offers basketball courts, a playground, a skate park, a spray pool, and hills for strolling or sledding. Renovations are underway to upgrade its facilities.
