In Tribute: Reb Yechiel Ehrenfeld, z”l
We regret to inform you of the passing of Reb Yechiel Ehrenfeld. He was 72 years of age, and was purified in suffering during the last years of his life.
The niftar was born to his father, Reb Moshe Ehrenfeld of Krasna, and his mother Mrs. Chaya Ehrenfeld, the daughter of the great naggid Reb Yitzchok frankel of Tashnad.
He spent his formative years in Yerushalayim where he was a Talmid of the Satmar Yeshiva, and later in the yeshiva of Rav Moshe Aryeh Freund.
When he was a bachur, his family moved to Williamsburg, and he entered the legendary Satmar Yeshiva on Sands Street, where he was nurtured by the Divrei Yoel of Satmar, receiving much from him in Torah and avodah.
He married Mrs. Chaya Reizel, nee Mandelbaum, the daughter of Reb Moshe Duvid Mandelbaum, a renowned Bobover chossid.
The couple settled in Boro Park, and this is where he first became close to the Beirach Moshe of Satmar, of whom he was an ardent chossid for all his years. He would daven in the Satmar shul on 15th Avenue. He suffered a series of heart attacks, and became very weak for a number of years before his passing.
Nevertheless, he was always positive. He was known for his good heart and his sterling middos, always having a good word for everyone.
He is survived by his only son, Dr. Joel Ehrenfeld, renowned for his dedication to helping numerous community members.
The levaya took place on Monday, Tu B’Av, at Shomrei Hadas Chapels. Reb Yechiel was laid to rest in the Satmar Beis Hachaim in New Jersey.
Yehi zichro baruch.
