Kossoner Rebbe of Linden Delivers Invocation at Gov. Murphy's State of the State Address
By: BZ Green
This afternoon, prior to the State of the State address by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, the Kossoner Rebbe, who has become a resident of New Jersey in recent years with his move to Linden, delivered a prayer. He was escorted into the State House by Rabbi Avi Schnall who is the head of Agudath Israel of New Jersey.
The Rebbe succeeded his father, Rebbe Menachem Yisroel of Kosson, in leading the golden chain of this dynasty on American shores. For many years, the Rebbe presided over the beis medrash on Fourteenth Avenue, until he led the way in helping Yidden find affordable housing in outlying towns. Linden is today one of the most shining examples of a successful, thriving Yiddishe town, where hundreds of families have already happily relocated.
"Avinu Shab'Shomayim, our Father in Heaven," the Rebbe intoned. "we pray to You that you bless the governor, the first lady, the senate president, the speaker, and all members of the legislature with the wisdom and the strength to continue to lead this state with fairness and justice. This country was established on the principles of freedom and liberty. We pray to You our Father in Heaven that these government powers continue to allow these freedoms and liberties to prosper. Allow us to continue to practice our beliefs as we have done since the founding of the nation."
