Mamdani Administration Announces $2.1M Real Estate Settlement; Repairs Ordered at 230 Ocean Parkway

The Mamdani administration announced a $2.1 million settlement with A&E Real Estate to address hazardous living conditions and tenant harassment across 14 apartment buildings in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens. The agreement requires the landlord to correct thousands of building violations and prohibits further tenant harassment.
City officials said the settlement follows enforcement actions by the Department of Housing Preservation and Development after inspections uncovered widespread safety issues. As part of the agreement, A&E must make repairs across all affected properties, including 230 Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn, located near Boro Park.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani said the settlement is about accountability and protecting tenants, adding that the action aligns with his campaign promise to improve living conditions for struggling tenants across the city. “Every tenant in New York City has a right to a safe and livable home, and our administration is taking decisive action to deliver exactly that,” Mamdani said.
City officials said more than 1,000 violations have already been corrected, with additional repairs still required. The city noted that further penalties could be imposed if the landlord fails to comply with the terms of the settlement.
