Man Arrested for Arson at Liberty Pub Bar

Mateo Rodriguez was arrested by Liberty Police for lighting a building on fire with the knowledge that people were inside. 

They made the arrest on Tuesday, August 9, following an investigation into the fire. The police department had responded to the fire at the Liberty Pub Bar on Edgar Street, and a preliminary investigation revealed that the fire had been started intentionally. 

The investigation led them to Rodriguez, who, police say, lit a canister of propane under the building, knowing that people were in the building. 

They charged with arson in the 2nd degree, reckless endangerment in the 1st degree, and criminal mischief in the 2nd degree. 

In a statement, the department clarified that a criminal charge is merely an accusation. All individuals listed are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
