Man Wanted for Multiple Homicides Shot and Killed During Arrest

By BoroPark24 Staff

Around 5:20 p.m. on Friday afternoon, NYPD's Warrant Squad went to arrest 38-year-old Vilmond Jean-Baptiste at an apartment building on East 21st Street and Cortelyou Road.

He was wanted for two homicide incidents that resulted in three deaths; one of these incidents occurred on Ditmas Avenue in Boro Park and left two people dead, as reported back then on BoroPark24.

Found hiding in a bathtub with a knife, Jean-Baptiste charged at officers when ordered to come out. Three officers opened fire, and after taking him into custody, they administered life-saving measures, but he later succumbed to his injuries.

Following the incident, hundreds of people gathered outside his home as the news spread rapidly. A heavy police presence was required to manage the crowd, and additional crews were brought in to control it.
