MTA Camera Enforcement Program Officially Launches
A few weeks ago, the MTA announced a new program that equips city buses with cameras that have the ability to issue tickets to cars blocking bus lanes and bus stops, as previously reported here.
This program will launch this week, with drivers getting a 60-day warning period before the fines begin.
First offenders will get fined $50, with the price escalating up to $250 for repeat offenses.
“Do not block our buses,” said Frank Annicaro, the MTA’s senior vice president said. “Stay out of our bus lanes, stay out of our bus stops, and don’t double park illegally.”
