New Gerrer Rosh Yeshiva, Son of Haguon Rav Dovid Olewski, Moves to New York

The New Gerrer Rosh Yeshiva, Harav Yisroel Moshe Olewski, the son of the previous Rosh Yeshiva Harav Dovid Olewski Ztz"l, relocated to Boro Park to serve as Rosh Yeshiva for the two Yeshivas, Mesivta Beis Yisroel and the Yeshiva Ktana, at the request of the Gerrer Rebbe Shlit"a.

The Rosh Yeshiva's father passed away in the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, and the Gerrer Rebbe asked his son to serve as the new Rosh Yeshiva. He has given Shiurim over the phone over recent months as he wasn't able to come to New York due to travel restrictions. 

Harav Yisroel Moshe was at the Gerrer Rebbe last week before leaving to America, where the Rebbe gave him a Brucha to be Matzliach as Rosh Yeshiva and be able to continue in his father's footsteps. 

The New Rosh Yeshiva arrived to New York on Sunday morning and was welcomed by many Magidei Shiur and Pnei Huedia from the Kehila in Boro Park. At the Kabulas Punim he was welcomed by Harav Chanoch Zeibart, Mazkir Hakluli of Agdath Yisroel in Israel and from the leading Askunim in Ger that came as a special Shliach from the Rebbe to introduce and welcome the new Rosh Yeshiva and assist that the Gashimyus of the Yeshiva be taken care of so that the Rosh Yeshiva can fill his day with learning and taking care of the Talmidim. 

After Shachris a few additional speakers welcomed the new Rosh Yeshivam including Hraav Yisroel Kompinski, one of the Magidei Shiur in the Yeshiva. Afterwrds Harav Dov Garfinkel from the Hanhulas Hayeshiva spoke and shared a warm welcome message and wished the new Rosh Yeshiva much success in his position. Then Rav Ziebart spoke again and said that welcoming the son of the previous Rosh Yeshiva will be a big Zchus for both the son on this world to have Hatzlucha and for the father to have an Iluy Neshoma.

Following the welcoming speeches, the new Rosh Yeshiva spoke for a long time how he cake Bshlichus from the Gerrer Rebbe Shlit”a and is looking forwarding to learning with the Talmidim in both Yeshivas.

After the Kabulis Punim the Gerrer Chasidim gave Shulim to the Rosh Yeshiva and then he headed into the Yeshiva where he will continue serving the Talmidim.
