New Law To Protect Small Businesses Goes Into Effect

Local Law 151, a new law protecting small businesses, went into effect today.
The new law aims to protect small businesses by reducing fines and allowing small businesses to resolve violations before being penalized. It removes unnecessary restrictions and requirements for businesses and reduces fines for first-time offenses.
“Our City Council is committed to seeing small businesses thrive and this law will bolster the backbone of New York’s economy,” said Council Member Julie Menin. “We are reducing fines and providing tangible relief to those business owners who need it most… By codifying portions of the Mayor’s ‘Small Business Forward’ Executive Order, we have made historic strides in cutting red tape to ensure that every entrepreneur, every storefront, and every business has a fair chance to succeed.”
