News Sparks: Biden Will Run in 2024, Two Terrorists Attack Jews in Israel, and More

Biden Tells His Half-Hearted Supporters: He will Run Again

Despite plunging approval ratings that are close to 40%, ever-rising inflation, and in-fighting over the Democratic agenda, President Joe Biden, who is now 79, and will be 82 in 2024, has “reassured” supporters in recent days that he plans to seek re-election for a second term.

The broader Democratic community, which most fears a Republican return to power, has become anxious in recent months as the president’s popularity wanes and his commitment to another campaign is unclear.

Today, only 42.8% of Americans approve of Biden’s performance as president, and 52.3% disapprove of the job he is doing in running the country, according to fivethirtyeight.com

The Washington Post said that Biden’s team sent out the message that he is running again to freeze out Vice President Kamala Harris and other Democratic presidential hopefuls.

Two Terrorists Attack Jews in Israel, US Embassy Issues Security Warning

This morning at 9am at the Sha’ar HaShalshelet in the Old City of Yerushalyim, when many mispallim were davening Shacharis, Hamas member and teacher Fabi Abu Shkhaydam, 42, who was dressed as a Charedi man, started shooting a Beretta M12 submachine gun, which resulted in the death of 26-year-old Eliyahu Dovid Kay, who was a chassan: to be married in only a few months.

Kay had made aliyah from South Africa to study at a Chabad yeshiva in Kiryat Gan and then to enlist in the army to protect Eretz Yisroel, which he loved very much.

Border Police officers shot and killed the terrorist, who also had a knife on him.

The kevurah of Kay, who died with a Tehillim and a sefer in his hands, will take place tomorrow at 11am at Har HaMenuchos.

Readers are asked to daven for the refuah shelmos of Aharon Yehuda Ben Tova, who is seriously wounded with life-threatening injuries and Reb Dovid Ze’ev (Katzenellebogen) ben Yehudis Perel, a resident of the Jewish Quarter was still wrapped in his tallis and tefillin, which dripped with blood after he “heard gunshots and chaos,” he reported.

In the second terrorist attack in Israel in one day, while an Israeli couple in their 60s was walking down a street in Yaffo this afternoon, an 18-year-old Arab stabbed five times the Israeli man, who is in moderate condition at Wolfson Hospital in Holon.

After the horrible day of attacks, the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem issued a warning to American citizens in Israel to “avoid the Old City, remain vigilant, and increase their security awareness.”

Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff and VP Kamala Harris Affix First Mezuzah onto Vice Presidential Residence

Vice President Kamala Harris, who is not Jewish, and her husband Doug Emhoff, who is the first Jewish spouse of a president or a vice president, for the first time ever affixed a mezuzah to the doorway of the vice-presidential residence

"This [white and pink] mezuzah case has inscribed on it the Hebrew phrase, 'Blessed shall you be in your comings and blessed shall you be in your goings,' (Devarim 28:6): the traditional blessing for visitors and travelers," an official noted.

The second family’s mezuzah “ceremony” is not the first time that Emhoff and Harris have expressed the second gentleman's Jewish faith. In March, Emhoff led the first White House Pesach event, which was live-streamed for the masses days before Yom Tov began.
