After a frum Jew was shot in the face with a gel pellet from a bead blaster, NY Police Department’s 66th Precinct clarified for the public what a gel-pistol is.
The sixteen-year-old minor who was allegedly responsible for the shooting incident on motzei Shabbos was charged with attempted assault, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon. The charges were placed after the teen used his bead blaster to shoot at two men standing on a driveway in Spring Valley while the shooter was out joyriding with two of his friends.
According to the NPD 66th Precinct's tweet, “Bead Blasters shoot gel water beads propelled by a spring-loaded air pump, making them an air rifle. Air rifles are a violation in NYC & are unlawful to possess. Violators found in possession of these will be issued a criminal summons & the weapon will be confiscated.”
