NYPD Raids Wrong Deli in Vape Bust, on 55th Street and New Utrecht Avenue
A deli on 55th Street and New Utrecht Avenue was mistakenly raided Friday afternoon by several NYPD agencies, who confiscated all flavored vapes from the store—only to later admit they had targeted the wrong business.
The raid, which unfolded just before Shabbos, left the owners stunned as officers swept through and cleared out their stock of vape products.
But the shock didn’t end there—this isn’t the first time the family has been wrongly targeted. A similar incident happened to their cousins’ deli not long ago, which led to a successful lawsuit and a $40,000 settlement from the city.
This time, too, the shop’s owners fought back. After proving they were not in violation of any laws, the confiscated merchandise was returned to the deli.
