NYPD Search for Car Theft Suspect

By Yehudit Garmaise

The NYPD 66th Precinct is looking for the young, black man who appears in the photo, for stealing a car on Feb. 6 at approximately 6:50pm in the area surrounding Albemarle Road and E5 Street.

Car theft falls in the crime category of grand larceny, which involves the theft of any property that costs more than $1,000.

Please remember to lock your car doors because in January, grand larceny shot up by more than 93%, with 908 crimes reported: compared to the 470 that were reported in the same week last year.

“Near-zero temperatures can’t keep the criminals away,” a Bronx police officer said recently, after the NYPD reported that crime increased by 60% last week. “It will only get worse as it gets warmer.”

If you have seen the suspect, or know who he is, please call (800) 577-TIPS or DM the 66th Precinct at the same number. Calls are confidential.
