Public School on 56th Street and 16th Avenue Revamps Playground

Renovations have begun at the public school on 56th Street and 16th Avenue to create a new playground for students and the local community.

The design incorporates input from the school’s parent body and features Green Infrastructure to help manage flooding and improve water quality in NYC.

BoroPark24 reached out to the school for details on the project, to which they responded that the park will include an artificial turf field, running track, basketball courts, benches, trees, a drinking fountain, trash and recycling cans, a garden, an outdoor classroom, play equipment, student-designed color seal art, and a volleyball court.

Construction is set to begin in the spring and finish by next fall and, hopefully, the school year.
