Retired NYPD Chief Charles Scholl Dies Unexpectedly at Age 65

Sad news came in this morning of the sudden death of retired NYPD Brooklyn South Chief Charles Scholl.

Scholl had served NYC with dedication for 41 years including over 7 years as the deputy chief of the 60th Precinct.

During his service Scholl was often spotted in Boro Park, where he worked to reduce crime and orchestrated and patrolled many large events.

“Whether it was proper deployment with regards to the holidays: Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, and Sukkos, Dep. Chief Scholl always made sure that the cops understood anything that they needed to know about Jewish people during Yom Tov,” said NYPD Inspector Richie Taylor at the time of Scholl’s retirement.

Scholl was a true friend of the Jewish community, serving as a role model for decades. May he rest in peace!
