Revel Removing Mopeds from Boro Park Streets

Revel Removing Mopeds from Boro Park Streets

After five years of the bright blue Revel mopeds streaking through the streets of Boro Park, the company announced Friday that as of November 18, it will no longer rent out the bikes.

Although there used to be 3,000 electric mopeds across all five boroughs during Revel's heyday, there is no longer enough demand for renting the mopeds to make continued business sense.

In addition to that change, Revel is planning to let go of 67 employees, according to TechCrunch.

According to Revel's CEO and co-founder Frank Reig, Revel will instead pivot to focus on its all-EV, all-employee rideshare service combined with public fast charging stations.

"We have 500 EVs operated by over 1,500 employee drivers delivering rides across all five boroughs," Reig shared in a letter on Friday.
