By Y.M. Lowy
A large plume of thick, black smoke was seen emanating from one of the external HVAC power machines at Maimonides Medical Center, prompting a swift response from emergency crews.
Firefighters arrived shortly after the smoke began to ensure the area was secure and to protect both hospital patients and staff, as well as those outside the building. Crews remain on scene as they work to manage the situation and investigate the cause of the smoke.
There is no danger to patients or staff, and all hospital operations continue as normal.
