Stolen Car Chase Ends in Crash Before Suspect Escapes

By Y.M. Lowy

A stolen car incident ended with the suspect fleeing after crashing into several vehicles and attempting to escape on foot.

The vehicle was reportedly stolen on 4th Avenue in the 72nd Precinct. Another driver followed the suspect’s vehicle as it traveled through the area before the chase came to an end near Fort Hamilton Parkway and 37th Street, where the stolen car crashed into multiple cars.

Following the crash, the suspect jumped out of the vehicle and ran from the scene.

At the same time, Shomrim received a call reporting the accident and the driver fleeing the area, though it was not yet known that the vehicle involved had been stolen.

After reviewing nearby security camera footage, Shomrim volunteers spotted the suspect running into a nearby backyard area. Volunteers searched surrounding properties along with NYPD, but the suspect was not located.

The suspect remains at large, and the search is ongoing.
