A suspect was apprehended by the NYPD after assaulting a Shomrim volunteer on Monday afternoon, and fleeing with his car, nearly hitting another member, video of the incident shows.

The suspect assaulted a Shomrim volunteer on 14th Avenue and 50th Street at around 5:30pm, after he tried to maneuver around traffic and hit a vehicle. The vehicle’s owner exited to check for any damage when he was suddenly hit in the head by the perpetrator.

The suspect then attempted to flee the scene with his black sedan. He was followed and apprehended by the NYPD just 2 blocks away on 13th Avenue and 49th Street.
