Today in History: El-Al Airline Attacked in Two Airports
Thirty-six years ago today a group of terrorists, funded by Libya, attacked the El-Al section at two airports.
They simultaneously assaulted the El-Al ticket counter at Schwechat Airport, Vienna, and the El-Al division at the Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Rome.
20 were killed and 110 wounded in these fatal attacks.
The Libyan leader, at the time, Muammar Qadhafi praised the assaults as “heroic operations carried out by the sons of the martyrs of Sabra and Shatila”
