Tri-State Area Braces for Prolonged Heat Wave, As Temperatures to Surpass 100 Degrees

As we head into the afternoon this Tuesday, we are creeping toward the 90 degrees mark. Coupled with the increasing humidity, it feels like even higher than that.
This is the pattern that we can expect this week--and the heat will only intensify as we go further into the week.
Thursday is expected to break the 100-degree mark, when we factor in the heat index (the heat, combined with the humidity, which makes it feel even higher).
These conditions can be dangerous, and it is crucial that people take precautions against heat stroke. This includes staying properly hydrated, ensuring that our children have adequate water supply to last them the day, not staying in the heat for too long at a time, and looking in on the elderly and the infirm to make sure they are safe.
The first sign of a break in the heat looks to be Sunday overnight, which will hopefully bring us some welcome relief.
