Two Manholes Catch Fire on 13th Ave, Causing Power Outages Amid Extreme Heat
By BoroPark24 Staff
Two manholes erupted in flames at the intersection of 13th Avenue and 53rd Street, plunging nearby stores into darkness and sending thick smoke into the air.
FDNY is currently on scene, working to secure the area.
This incident comes just a month after hundreds of Boro Park residents and multiple businesses near 13th Avenue and 50th Street were left without power due to a similar electrical issue.
The manhole fires occurred as temperatures in the city soared past 100 degrees, adding further strain to the power grid and heightening concerns about infrastructure reliability during extreme weather.
