US Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, who Calls out “Hard-Left Socialists,” Favored to Replace House Speaker Pelosi

US Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), a Brooklynite, is favored to replace House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) who is expected to step down after serving, sometimes controversially, in the Democratic Party since 1987.

Although Jeffries, who chairs the House Democratic Caucus, calls himself a “progressive politician,” he told the Atlantic that "there's a difference between progressive Democrats and hard-left democratic socialists."

Jeffries said that his Democratic ideology is informed more by race, than economic class, which is the current obsession of many progressives: thanks to widespread decades-long indoctrination of the work of Karl Marx in American universities.

Jeffries said that “as a Black man,” he tends to "tackle issues first and foremost with an understanding that systemic racism has been in the soil of America for over 400 years," while many other progressives "view the defining problem in America as one that is anchored in class."

Despite the rising power of many elected officials who express views that are in line with socialism, Jeffries said will not "bend the knee to hard-left democratic socialism:" regardless of the pressure other lawmakers and activists may put on him, and he seeks to resolve the growing discord that has been brewing between moderates and progressives in the party.

The Jewish Insider reported that Jeffries has privately blamed the “far-left rhetoric” of some Democrats to push many swing voters to vote Republican in recent elections.

When speaking about his representation, since 2013, of New York’s 8th District, which is in eastern Brooklyn and southwestern Queens, Jeffries has said, “It’s a high honor and distinct privilege to represent one of the largest Jewish communities in the country and to represent more Russian-speaking Jewish immigrants from the former Soviet Union than any member of Congress in the country,” said Jeffries, who is thought to be “a friend to the Jews.”

Pelosi, a favorite of the far left, has been instrumental in pushing through many bills, such as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the American Rescue Plan, which are part and parcel of the unusually large spending agenda of President Joe Biden.

Almost two years ago, in February 2020, Rep. Pelosi, famously and not so decorously, ripped up the State of the Union speech of former President Donald Trump on the House floor, and in August 2020, the house speaker thoughtlessly visited an indoor hair salon in San Francisco during intense lockdowns in California that required all other hairstylists to work outdoors.
