With one week to Hilula, Feverish Preparations in Meron as Gov’t Takes Over Events

There’s one week remaining to Lag Ba’Omer, and crews are working around-the-clock to prepare the site in accordance with new regulations.

The regulations for conducting the Hilula of Rashbi have been adopted into law, which means they will be enforcable, and violators can be punished under the law.

Among them is a cap of 16,000 people to be allowed in Meron at any given time.

The limit for staying in Meron will be four hours per person—with tickets needing to be purchased in advance for specific time slots.

Many surrounding structures have already been demolished, in order to make the area around the tziyun accessible and more open.

The regulations were formulated following the recommendations of Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, and an enormous police and army presence to enforce these regulations and keep the process orderly is planned for Lag Ba’Omer.
