$300 Worth of Copper Pipes Stolen From Boro Park Driveway
Boro Park – A thief entered the driveway of a Boro Park home on Tuesday and made off with hundreds of dollars worth of copper piping.
The man was caught on surveillance camera footage going into the driveway of a house on 53rd Street between 13th and 14th avenues.
Shomrim said that the suspect apparently was well prepared for the heist — he withdrew a nylon bag used extensively by plumbers and used it to pack up a bunch of copper pipes that was there.
The suspect, the homeowner told boropark24.com, was known to police, he was told when he filed a police report.
Stealing metal pipes are a lucrative business for the dozens of homeless people who prowl Boro Park’s streets. A pound of copper can be sold for scrap for close to $20.
Shomrim are asking that if anyone sees the suspect they should call 718-871-6666.
