Yesterday was the FDNY Probationary Firefighter Graduation Ceremony where 303 probationary firefighters graduated after 19 weeks of grueling training at the fire academy, learning the skills they need to save lives while working to become members of the FDNY.
Probationary Firefighter Edward Morrison, who hails from a firefighting family, was the Salutatorian for the graduating class.
Three graduates are children of first responders who lost their lives after 9/11.
"Today, 303 Probationary Firefighters will graduate," FDNY posted on X. "Among them is Probationary Firefighter Thomas York, the valedictorian of this class. He remembers being home watching the horrors of 9/11 on TV. Since then, he has remained steadfast in his goal of becoming a NYC Firefighter."
